These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of this website and your purchase of goods and services from Peter Suchy Jewelers, 1137 High Ridge Road, Stamford, CT 06905 ("we", "us"). By using this site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Shipping Policy, each of which forms part of these Terms.
1. About our products
We specialise in vintage, estate and antique jewelry. Almost everything we sell is previously owned, one of a kind, and available in a single quantity. Because these pieces are period items rather than new manufactured goods:
- Descriptions of age, origin, maker, metal content, gemstone weights, colour and clarity are given in good faith and, where not accompanied by an independent certificate, represent our professional opinion based on examination and experience.
- Stated carat weights and measurements of stones that are set in a mounting are approximate, as stones cannot be removed and weighed without risk to the piece.
- Photographs are of the actual item. Colour may vary between screens, and magnified images may show surface characteristics not visible to the unaided eye.
- Normal signs of age and prior wear are to be expected and are not defects.
2. Certificates and appraisals
Where a piece is accompanied by a grading report or certificate from an independent laboratory, that report is the opinion of the issuing laboratory and not a warranty by us. Any appraisal we supply is prepared for insurance replacement purposes only. An appraised value is not a representation of resale value, market value, or the price any third party would pay.
3. Availability, pricing and acceptance of orders
Because our inventory is one of a kind and we also sell from our Stamford store, an item shown as available online may be sold in person before your order is processed. Submitting an order and receiving an automated confirmation does not constitute our acceptance of your order. A contract is formed only when we accept the order and dispatch the item. If an item is unavailable, or if an item has been listed at a materially incorrect price, we may decline or cancel the order and will refund you in full.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes and shipping unless stated. We may change prices at any time before an order is accepted.
4. Payment and financing
Payment is taken at the time of purchase through the payment methods offered at checkout. Where financing is offered, it is provided by an independent third-party finance provider on that provider's own terms; we are not the lender and are not party to your credit agreement.
5. Shipping, title and risk
Shipping is governed by our Shipping Policy. Orders ship fully insured for their full value and may require an adult signature on delivery. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery. Title passes to you when we have received payment in full.
6. Returns
Returns are governed by our Refund Policy, which offers a 30-day, 100% money-back satisfaction guarantee. Please contact us before returning any item. Returned pieces must be shipped back fully insured for the purchase amount and should include all original documentation. Items that have been altered, resized, repaired or damaged after delivery cannot be accepted for return.
7. Repairs, restoration and custom work
We provide jewelry repair, restoration, appraisal and custom work. Estimates for such work are given in advance. Antique and period pieces carry inherent risk during repair owing to age, prior repairs, and the condition of metal and stones; we will advise you of any material risk before commencing work. Items left with us for service should be collected within the period we notify to you.
8. Your use of this site
You may not use this site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or copy, scrape or reproduce its content, including product photography and descriptions, without our written permission. All site content is our property or used with permission and is protected by applicable intellectual property law.
9. Accounts
If you create an account you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity that occurs under your account. Please tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your authorisation.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, our total liability arising out of or in connection with an order is limited to the amount you paid for the item concerned, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, and the courts of that state have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order.
